Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The 2nd Irian Creative Week at Imbi Park from August 18–20, 2023, will be held jointly with the National QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) Week, the Jayapura Tourism Office, Papua Province, has announced.

The tourism office will collaborate with the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Papua to hold Irian Creative Week II as part of activities to mark the 78th anniversary of Indonesian Independence, Head of the office Matias Mano said here on Friday.

"There will be musical and dance performances, culinary and handicraft bazaars, but this time, we will make the festival a mandatory QRIS zone," he informed.

The use of the QRIS for cashless transactions is being promoted by Bank Indonesia.

QRIS is targeted to be used for transactions in shops, tourism ticket purchases, bill payments, levies, and even regional taxes.

According to Mano, his office has asked all micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) participating in the event to use QRIS for transactions.

It has also asked them to fill out the Port Numbay Creative Work Information System (SIKAP) application.

"The Jayapura City Tourism Office has prepared the SIKAP app to record creative economy actors who already have the QRIS app," he said.

Participants who take part in singing and dancing competitions will also be required to register through the QRIS app.

"So each of them (competition participants) will contribute Rp1 for (donation for) houses of worship, such as churches and mosques," he said.

Furthermore, he added, visitors will have to scan the provided barcode for the lucky draw.

"Visitors who do not scan the barcode will not get the chance to win prizes," he said.

The office has prepared 50 booths for MSMEs participating in the Irian Creative Week II.

Papuan women who want to conduct trade during the event will also be allowed to join.

"Our target is that as many people as possible transact using QRIS during the Irian Creative Week II implementation," he said.
