Jakarta (ANTARA) - President appointed Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD as Chairperson I and Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy as Chairperson II in Human Trafficking Crime Prevention, Handling Task Force (TPPO).

This is regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 49 of 2023 on the second amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 69 of 2008 on the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of TPPO, which is uploaded on jdih.setneg.go.id and monitored from Jakarta, Friday.

In the latest presidential regulation regarding structural officials in the TPPO Task Force, President Jokowi also appointed National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as daily chairperson for the Task Force.

Meanwhile, members of the Central Task Force are ministers and heads of state institutions, including the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Finance, and others.

Moreover, the president formed a Task Force Secretariat within the Police environment that is determined by the National Police Chief. The Secretariat will be headed by Head of the Secretariat.

"The head of the Secretariat is functionally responsible to the Central Task Force and administratively responsible to the National Police Chief," according to the Presidential Regulation Number 49 of 2023.

The Presidential Regulation was signed by President Joko Widodo on August 10, 2023, and promulgated on the same date.

Presidential Regulation No. 49 of 2023 is the second amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 69 of 2008 on the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of TPPO. The first change to Presidential Regulation Number 69 of 2008 is Presidential Regulation Number 22 of 2021 that was signed on April 1, 2023.

Presidential Regulation Number 22 of 2021 stipulated that Chairperson I of the TPPO Central Task Force was Minister Effendy, while Chairperson II was Minister Mahfud. There was a change in the position for daily chairperson that was earlier taken by the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.
