"In addition to offering the tourist potentials, MSMEs that we have recapitulated at the Department of Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) also need to be encouraged. The central government also gave instructions to introduce halal products," Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen said.
Speaking after a ceremony held for securing the 55th AEM Meeting at the governor's office in Semarang on Tuesday, he said the provincial government, Central Java Police (Polda), and other stakeholders have made preparations to maintain security and ensure the smooth running of the event.
"We only support what needs to be done to boost economic growth in Central Java, including the food sector," he added.
Maimoen and Secretary of the Directorate General of International Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade Ari Satria accompanied the police chief, Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, during a review of the readiness of personnel and equipment for the meeting.
Satria said the AEM Meeting will discuss several issues, including digital economy development in ASEAN.
It will also feature an exhibition of several quality MSME products from Central Java.
"There will be an expo of Central Java MSME products. The Trade Minister will also launch an ASEAN Online Sale Day or (in the digital economy) Online Sale Day for ASEAN Products," he informed.
