Strengthening the competitiveness of our digital financial industry will become a source of inclusive, sustainable, and just national economic growth
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Bambang Soesatyo, on Wednesday invited all parties to jointly develop Indonesia's digital financial industry to ensure it grows in a healthy and sustainable manner and prioritizes consumer protection.

"Strengthening the competitiveness of our digital financial industry will become a source of inclusive, sustainable, and just national economic growth," he explained at the 2023 MPR Annual Session and the 2023 Joint Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Regional Representative Council (DPD) in Jakarta.

According to him, currently, economic activities have moved rapidly toward digitalization and integration.

The development of technology innovation in the financial sector, digital financial assets, and crypto in Indonesia has continued to show fast development.

According to Soesatyo, digital financial activities offer many benefits from the aspects of convenience, speed, and efficiency.

In addition, they have a strategic role in driving the growth of economic activities, boosting investment value, and opening new job opportunities.

"This relatively new sector is also inseparable from challenges and potential problems," he said.

For that reason, Soesatyo expressed the hope that the issuance of Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector can become the basis for strengthening the role of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in maintaining financial system stability, devising regulations, and supervising and developing the sector.
