"Because President Jokowi conveyed the statement purely in the capacity of none other than the head of the state," deputy IV of the KSP, Juri Ardiantoro, said in response to the President's speech in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In the national political context, President Widodo reminded the people that the country will enter a political year in 2024, he noted.
The President also affirmed his commitment to ensuring that the 2024 elections are successful, democratic, and hate speech-free, he added.
"(The President) also hoped that the next leaders will be those who truly manage to gain public trust," he added.
According to Ardiantoro, Widodo's speech clearly highlighted his position as the head of the state, and not as a head of a political party or a party coalition that wields the authority to determine potential candidates for president and vice president.
"The President's stance is clear: he has no inclinations to any presidential candidates," he stressed.
As head of the state, he added, Widodo demonstrated his capability of formulating a road map for the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, which places focus on developing human resource quality, increasing inter-regional connectivity, and downstreaming natural resources.
He also noted that under President Widodo's leadership, Indonesia has garnered increased international trust, which has made it more influential at the global level.
According to the President, this international trust has been gained as a result of Indonesia's successful G20 presidency last year, his visit to Russia and Ukraine in 2022 to discuss their conflict, and Indonesia's hosting of a number of ASEAN meetings as the 2023 ASEAN chair.
"Like what the President said, this international trust constitutes a great opportunity for Indonesia," Ardianto pointed out.
