Iskandar received a visit from Yamaguchi and delegates from the Komeito party at his residence in South Jakarta.
"We will continue to improve relations between parties, relations between parliaments, while at the same time, supporting economic cooperation and relations in all fields," he said in a statement received here on Friday.
At the meeting, Iskandar, who is also serving as chairperson of the Nation Awakening Party (PKB), sought advanced cooperation in developing human resources so that the competency of Indonesia's workforce can be on par with Japan's.
"One of the things that I want to improve is cooperation in the field of Indonesia's human resources. We want Indonesia's human resources to continue to be improved in accordance with the global standard, especially Japan's standard," he said.
Yamaguchi said the visit of the Komeito party delegation to friendly countries, including Indonesia, is a regular event that is carried out every year to strengthen relations.
Besides affirming a commitment to maintaining bilateral relations between Japan and Indonesia, he also congratulated Indonesia on its 78th Independence Day anniversary. Indonesia's independence day is commemorated every August 17.
He said Indonesia has democratic values that are developing well. He also expressed a wish to increase cooperation with Indonesia as a strategic partner, including collaboration between political parties.
During his visit to Iskandar's residence, Yamaguchi was accompanied by a number of officials from Komeito party and members of the Japanese parliament.
Meanwhile, Iskandar was accompanied by chair of the PKB faction at DPR, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, and a number of members and officials of PKB.
