Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has prepared an operational plan for Soekarno-Hatta Airport for welcoming the heads of state and delegates attending the 43rd ASEAN Summit.

"We have upgraded the existing facilities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, especially in the VIP building, as the heads of state will enter through this VIP building," the airport's senior manager of branch communication and legal, Holik Muardi, informed here on Wednesday.

He said that his side is preparing a special line at International Terminal 3, as some non-VIP delegates will pass through Terminal 3 and the commercial area and lounge.

The preparations are around 70–80 percent complete, he added.

In addition to ensuring the optimization of airport facilities, he said that his side is coordinating with all existing stakeholders to ensure the smooth arrival, transit, and departure of delegates.

"We are coordinating with Immigration and Customs so they can prepare a fast track for these delegates and they can walk through the track properly. We will also provide a help desk in the arrivals area of Terminal 3 International to help the event committee pick up delegates," he added.

Furthermore, his side will optimize security for heads of state arriving at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

According to Muardi, besides Aviation Security (Avsec), the military and the police (TNI/Polri) will also be involved in securing the airport.

"For security, we will coordinate with the TNI/Polri. We will ready 6,341 personnel to secure the ASEAN Summit (delegations' arrival) at Soekarno-Hatta Airport," he said.

Meanwhile, Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, West Java, and Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) will also prepare parking for state aircraft.

The ASEAN Summit delegates are expected to arrive on September 4, 2023.
