The airline currently operates five aircraft to serve passengers from Papua province, said Agny Gallus Pratama, the general manager of Garuda Indonesia-Jayapura Office, here on Thursday.
Garuda is operating flights on the Jakarta-Makassar-Timika-Merauke-Biak route.
In October, it will increase the frequency of flights on the Jayapura-Biak, Jayapura-Merauke, and Jayapura-Makassar routes to thrice a week, he said.
Pratama added that Garuda will also operate an aircraft to serve direct flights from Makassar, South Sulawesi, to Denpasar, Bali.
Besides increasing flights from Papua, Garuda will also improve its in-flight services. Passengers, for instance, will be served Wamena and Gayo coffee on the flights, he said.
