"Starting on September 16, 2023, the Jabodebek LRT will add more trips to meet increasing demand," PT KAI's Vice President for Public Relations, Joni Martinus, informed in a statement released on Friday.
The decision to add more trips is the result of an evaluation of the high demand for public transportation and also a part of the government's efforts to ease traffic congestion and reduce air pollution, he added.
According to Martinus, the number of trips per day will be increased to 202 from the previous 158.
"The arrival time between trains (headway) will also be shorter," he said.
With more trips, the headway will be cut to 17 minutes from the previous 20 minutes for Jati Mulya-Cawang and Harjamukti-Cawang. Meanwhile, the Cawang-Dukuh Atas route will be covered in 9 minutes from the previous 10 minutes, he disclosed.
Furthermore, he said that the Jabodebek LRT will serve the community longer than the previous operational hours.
Martinus informed that the first departure of Jabodebek LRT is at 5:10 a.m. local time from Jatimulya to Dukuh Atas stations, while it is 5:06 a.m. on the Harjamukti-Dukuh Atas line, 5:59 a.m. on the Dukuh Atas-Harjamukti line, and 6:08 a.m. on the Dukuh Atas-Jatimulya line.
As per the latest schedule for the Jabodebek LRT, the last train on the Jati Mulya-Dukuh Atas line is at 6:26 p.m. local time, while it is at 6:58 p.m. on the Harjamukti-Dukuh Atas line, 7:27 p.m. on the Dukuh Atas-Jati Mulya line, and 7:51 p.m. on the Dukuh Atas-Harjamukti line.
According to him, the increase in the number of trips is an indicator of the success of implementing the national strategic project (PSN), which was assigned to KAI.
"The high level of public demand in using the Jabodebek LRT can be seen since it was inaugurated on August 28. Until September 13, the Jabodebek LRT has served 629,929 passengers," he informed.
KAI also thanked the government and all stakeholders who have supported LRT operations and the public's trust in using the Jabodebek LRT as a mode of transportation.
