"Praise be to God, a number of countries have arrived in Jember to prepare to compete in the Asian Music Games," Jember's Head of the Youth and Sports Office, Edy Budi Susilo, remarked in Jember on Wednesday.
Susilo noted that participants from several Asian countries, namely China, Japan, Vietnam, Maldives, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand, have landed in Jember.
Representatives from several Indonesian regions, including West Sumatra, have also arrived, he added.
"Today, numerous participants are still on their way to Jember District. We, the Jember District Government, will provide the finest services to all participants of the Asian Music Games," Susilo remarked.
He noted that the district government had made utmost preparations for hosting the Asian Music Games scheduled to take place on September 22-24 this year, including by ensuring the safety and comfort of the international guests.
A total of 2,033 "marching band athletes" from Indonesia and other Asian countries will vie for medals at the championship that serves as one of the flagship events of the Asian Marching Band Confederation.
Speaking in connection with delegates from Jember, Susilo affirmed that the delegates are fully ready to showcase their best performances to make the district people proud.
"Recently, they managed to get Jember to emerge as the overall champion of the marching band at the 2023 East Java Porprov (Provincial Sports Week) by bagging six gold medals and one silver medal," he noted.
On its first day, the Asian Music Games will feature several agendas, including band concerts, while on the second day, all participants will participate in an international street parade, among other agendas.
The final stage of several categories competed as well as the closing and other ceremonies of the event will take place on September 24. After the conclusion of the competition, the participants can enjoy a city tour on September 25, according to the event's official website.
