Jakarta (ANTARA) - Thirty-two of the 36 planned ministerial landed residences have been built in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of the new capital (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan, the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry said.

"We have built 32 housing units and the remaining 4 units are still under construction. We are speeding up the process of building ministerial houses and targeting their completion by mid-2024," the ministry's director general of housing, Iwan Suprijanto, said here Thursday.

He also informed that the government is planning to commemorate Indonesia's Independence Day at IKN next year, therefore, construction work on landed houses, public and social facilities, and regional infrastructure will need to be completed on time.

As per data from his ministry, of the total 36 ministerial housing units, 24 units will be built on plot 104 and 12 units on plot 105. The area will be equipped with infrastructure, facilities, and utilities, whose construction started on December 7, 2022.

Suprijanto said that the progress of construction is still in accordance with the plan and has been communicated regularly to the PUPR Minister and President Joko Widodo.

The ministry is also trying to maximize the use of existing land and minimize cutting trees to preserve the environment while pursuing the housing development, he added.

"We are installing solar panels at the ministerial housing to utilize the use of green energy. We are also avoiding cutting existing trees to preserve the environment," he stated.

The ministerial housing is being built based on two designs: downslope type (11 units) and upslope type (25 units). The ministry is also laying pedestrian paths and planting trees along the roads.

It has formed a housing provision work unit at IKN Nusantara to monitor the process of housing infrastructure development, Suprijanto informed.

The work unit is also responsible for monitoring the work schedule and ensuring punctuality with predetermined plans and the quality of work, he said.
