The Damai Cartenz task force and the Asmat District Police arrested YT for allegedly supplying food to the Egianus Kogoya-led armed group.
Head of the Damai Cartenz Operation-2023 Senior Commissioner Faizal Ramadhani stated here on Friday that YT, who worked as a boat driver in Asmat, was arrested on Thursday (September 21).
"Yes, we have arrested YT, who is a KKB sympathizer and has a role in supplying food to the Egianus Kogoya group," Ramadhani remarked.
The Task Force team made the arrest after it received a tip-off. It followed YT when he went to Bank Papua to collect money from Egianus Kogoya.
Before being arrested by officers, YT had withdrawn Rp100 million from Bank Papua Asmat and bought various foods as requested by Egianus Kogoya.
Earlier, on Tuesday (September 19), the Damai Cartenz Task Force arrested a member of the armed group T alias LD alias ALTAU, 27, in Nabire District, Central Papua Province.
ET alias LD alias ALTAU was allegedly involved in several shootings around Nduga District, Papua Pegunungan Province, Ramadhani stated.
A spokesperson of the task force Adjunct Senior Commissioner Bayu noted that the task force would continue to take legal actions against the armed criminal group in Papua.
"We will continue to hunt, arrest, and take legal actions against the armed group to create a conducive situation in Papua," Bayu said.
