Jakarta (ANTARA) - United States Special Advisor on International Disability Rights Sara Minkara will attend the ASEAN High Level Forum (AHLF) on Disability-Inclusive Development and Partnership beyond 2025, according to the US Department of State.

The event is scheduled to be held in Makassar, South Sulawesi on October 10-12.

In a press release on Thursday, the US Department of State stated that Minkara traveled to Jakarta and Makassar on October 4-11 to participate in the forum organized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

She will also attend the first ever ASEAN-US High-Level Dialogue on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

During her visit, she will meet with government officials, non-governmental organizations, disability activists, business and religious leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to promote the full social and economic empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini stated on Tuesday that the forum would demonstrate the commitment of ASEAN countries to inclusivity for persons with disabilities.

"The forum is also to show that Makassar is a civilized society that respects the rights of people with disabilities," she remarked.
