We hope that this program can accommodate and facilitate blue innovators, academics, and entrepreneurs to develop the blue sector
Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA) - The Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum launched a blue economy research and development center to offer innovative solutions for sustainable economics and education.

"We hope that this program can accommodate and facilitate blue innovators, academics, and entrepreneurs to develop the blue sector," head of the AIS Forum Secretariat, Riny Modaso, stated on the sidelines of the AIS Forum Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday.

The Blue Economy Research and Development Center or AIS Blue Hub and AIS Research and Development Center were launched by Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya Bakar, on the sidelines of the AIS Forum Summit, namely dialogue related to the blue economy.

These two programs are a derivative of the AIS Forum's mission to provide innovative solutions in the blue economy and education, Modaso stated.

AIS Blue Hub, which was earlier called AIS Startup Blue Hub, was launched to facilitate players in the blue economy sector to develop their businesses, she noted.

She affirmed that the AIS Research and Development Center is a centralized implementation of research and development programs implemented at the AIS Forum.

The AIS Forum also accommodates innovative solutions in various derivative programs to achieve sustainable development goals for the future of archipelagic and island countries, she remarked.

The first AIS Forum Summit will be held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) in Bali on October 10-11.

Three big themes discussed at the summit are the blue economy, the future of the sea, and solidarity.

The 2023 AIS Forum Summit is a forum for cooperation between island and archipelagic countries to strengthen collaboration to address four global problems: climate change mitigation and adaptation, blue economy, handling plastic waste at sea, and maritime governance.

The AIS Forum Summit was held to bolster the role of the AIS Forum as a center for smart and innovative solutions and as a forum for mutual cooperation to realize the future agenda of global ocean governance.
