Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) is striving to expand market reach of the products of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by implementing the PaDI UMKM (MSMEs' Digital Market) program.

"We need to facilitate MSMEs to expand their market reach, both through online and offline measures, such as by implementing the PaDI UMKM program and holding MSME bazaars," the SOEs Ministry's Expert Staff for Finance and MSME Development, Loto Ginting, noted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Ginting made the statement during an event titled "Business Matching PaDI UMKM Jakarta 2023" in Central Jakarta. The event is held to directly connect the group of buyers, including SOEs and their sub-holdings, with MSME players.

PaDI UMKM serves as a marketplace that offers sorted products from Indonesian MSMEs that can meet the procurement standards of SOEs.

According to Ginting, SOEs Minister Erick Thohir had devised the marketplace in the hopes of involving MSMEs in SOEs' procurement activities. She then added that PaDI UMKM constitutes part of the Proud of Made in Indonesia (BBI) National Movement.

"This year, we are collaborating to implement the Proud of Made in Indonesia national movement in Jakarta," Ginting remarked.

She also drew attention to various obstacles that have been hindering MSME players to develop their businesses, such as difficulties in the processes of production, obtaining permits, and accessing financing schemes.

However, the expert staff deems it necessary to not only help MSMEs overcome the obstacles but also ensure that their products are well absorbed in the hopes of giving them the expected profits.

"Therefore, we deem it necessary to focus on expanding the market of MSMEs," she emphasized.

She then stated that the SOEs Ministry had prepared various activities that will be held in 2024 to help MSMEs expand their market reach while noting that the activities will also be held in regions outside Jakarta.

"We have prepared a number of events that will take place outside Jakarta in the hopes of providing the same opportunities to MSME players from outside the capital city," she explained.
