"He stated his commitment to continue to support and carry out all the cooperation programs between Indonesia and Japan so far, even though there will be the possibility of a change in government in the future," she informed during a diplomatic reception hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Maharani held a meeting with Kishida in Tokyo on Tuesday (October 10, 2023).
She noted that the two parties agreed to strengthen and improve the relations between Indonesia and Japan, which entered 65 years in 2023.
"With support from strong and friendly parliamentary relations, in the future, we want the friendship between Indonesia and Japan to become closer and mutually beneficial for the people of both countries," she remarked.
Maharani affirmed that the DPR is ready to cooperate with the Japanese parliament to support the governments of both nations in carrying out cooperation that is inclusive and benefits the people.
She also offered cooperation in several fields, including renewable energy for the development of Indonesia's new capital city (IKN) Nusantara.
She pointed out that Indonesia's economy has experienced a lot of progress in the past ten years with the development of various infrastructures, which have enabled Indonesia to become a strategic production hub in Asia.
Kishida welcomed the offer of cooperation, according to her.
"I will encourage the executive to follow up on this," the house speaker said.
Prime Minister Kishida earlier stated that Indonesia and Japan have strengthened their relations to forge a comprehensive strategic partnership.
It is hoped that the relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of infrastructure and energy, including decarbonization, can be improved, he added.
He also expressed the hope that Maharani would lead an exchange between the parliaments of both nations.
