Makassar (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf concluded his agendas in Papua sooner than scheduled to attend a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo in Jakarta.

"On account of answering the call to participate in a limited meeting with the president in Jakarta, the vice president had to postpone his visits to Wamena and Merauke," spokesperson of the VP, Masduki Baidlowi, stated at a press conference in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Thursday.

The statement made clear that Vice President Amin would cancel a series of activities scheduled on the fourth and fifth day of his temporary office camp in the Land of Papua.

According to the initial schedule released by the Vice Presidential Secretariat, VP Amin was meant to head for Wamena in Jayawijaya District, Highland Papua Province, to partake in a groundbreaking event of the province's facilities and infrastructures on Thursday morning local time.

In the province, the vice president was also scheduled to meet with local traditional figures.

"The VP's visit to Wamena was meant to complete his visit to all 38 provinces of Indonesia since he has already visited the other provinces," he elaborated.

The vice president's early return to Jakarta also means that he will have to cancel his working visit to Merauke City, South Papua Province, in the afternoon, to sign the inscription for the local government's facilities and infrastructures center.

Initially, VP Amin was scheduled to head back to Jakarta on Friday (October 13), the fifth day of his office camp.

Earlier, Vice President Amin, along with Second Lady Wury and officials from the Vice Presidential Secretariat, had been camping at the Office of Papua Governor in Jayapura City since Monday (October 9).

During his three-day stay, the vice president and his aides directly heeded the aspirations of communities, including human rights activists, religious figures, sports figures, and business actors, as an effort to expedite economic development and improve the living standards of people in the region.
