"We must have the courage to speak out, as long as we are afraid to speak out, the same (domestic violence) cases will continue to repeat," she said at the event "Multi-stakeholder Collaboration in Public Space in Eliminating Domestic Violence".
Puspayoga encouraged the public not to hesitate to report domestic violence cases, because the more cases revealed, the more justice can be provided for the victims and the perpetrators can get deterrent effects.
Since 2021, the ministry has been promoting the 'Dare to Speak Up' campaign to encourage domestic violence victims and witnesses to report cases.
The ministry has also launched the Friend of Women and Children (SAPA) 129 Service in all 34 provinces in the country to provide better protection for women and children.
"We expect your participation by reporting to the hotline SAPA 129," Puspayoga said, adding that the hotline can be reached at WhatsApp number 08111129129, and the application is available on Playstore.
She emphasized that efforts against domestic violence must be bolstered, considering that the state law on the elimination of domestic violence has been established since 2004.
The law is a legal foundation for the government to provide protection to victims, and sanctions for perpetrators of domestic violence, Puspayoga added.
For this reason, the ministry together with a number of related stakeholders held the campaign to voice the fight against domestic violence in the country.
"With our joint commitment, synergy, and collaboration, we can minimize domestic violence in Indonesia," she said.
