It must not happen again in the 2024 General Election
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo cautioned that terrorism is a threat that must receive serious attention from all ranks of the police while securing the 2024 General Election.

"Terrorism must be a serious concern," Prabowo stated during the 2023-2024 Mantap Brata Operation preparation routine at the National Monument (Monas) Square here on Tuesday.

According to the general, all police personnel involved in next year's election security must be able to anticipate and prevent terrorist attacks. He reminded that six acts of terror attacks had occurred in the 2019 election.

"It must not happen again in the 2024 General Election," he emphasized.

Prabowo also highlighted that the ongoing conflict between the Hamas militant group and Israel can have an impact on the situation in the country.

"Moreover, the escalating war between Hamas and Israel can have an impact on the domestic situation," he stated.

In anticipating terror acts during the election period, he urged the police to optimize preventive strikes.

"We can minimize any disruptions during the election by optimizing preventive strikes, so that terrorists can be arrested before carrying out their actions," he stated.

The Mantap Brata Operation will be held from October 19, 2023, to October 20, 2024, involving 261,695 personnel from the National Police Headquarters to the regional police.

Furthermore, the National police also prepared two thousand Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) personnel and 8,500 crowd control personnel throughout the country.

The distribution of personnel in the Mantap Brata Operation is divided into priority 1, very vulnerable, and priority 2, vulnerable, according to the region's vulnerability to public security disruptions during the election implementation.

East Java, Aceh, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Kalimantan, Bali, Central Java, North Sumatra, North Sulawesi, Papua, and the Greater Jakarta Police are part of the priority 1 group.
