This book (module) will outline practical steps that can be taken by MSME actors to access digital financial services.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia and the World Bank are collaborating to prepare a financial digital service training module to guide micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players on developing their businesses.

"This book (module) will outline practical steps that can be taken by MSME actors to access digital financial services," said Irene Heniwati, executive analyst at Bank Indonesia's department of MSME development and consumer protection, in Jakarta on Thursday.

The analyst made the statement during a webinar that discussed a financial literacy program.

In addition to providing MSMEs with information on practical steps to access digital financial services, the module will guide MSME players on accessing products that can help them develop their businesses.

According to the Beyond Unicorns: Harnessing Digital Technologies for Inclusion in Indonesia report released by the World Bank in 2021, the development of digital financial services aims to promote financial and payment solutions offered by digital technology.

The report also states that digital financial services can provide Indonesian people who do not possess bank accounts access to financial services.

During the webinar, Heniwati expressed the hope that the training module would enhance inclusiveness in financial service access and help Indonesia boost the financial literacy of its MSMEs.

She also spoke about the risks of digital services, such as product scams, fraud via phone calls, data theft, and the misuse of SIM cards, as well as issues related to cybersecurity.

"It is essential to help MSME players elevate their businesses in tandem with efforts to empower them as consumers," she said.

MSME players should be made aware of the problems that they might face while using digital financial services so that they can prudently choose digital services and avoid the ones with high risks, she added.
