According to a report released in 2022 by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, the total value of Indonesia's digital economy is projected to reach US$220 billion to US$360 billion by 2030.

"The Indonesian government is fully committed to optimizing the growth of the digital ecosystem by taking various initiatives, including improving internet connection and expanding its coverage, which has become our priority," he informed in Jakarta on Thursday.

Minister Setiadi delivered the statement at the China-Indonesia Executive Tech Summit.

In his speech, the minister noted that 5.16 billion people in the world know how to use the internet, and of them, 2.6 billion live in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Indonesia is home to over 212 million internet users," he highlighted.

To support the growth of the Indonesian digital ecosystem, the government has continued to develop various infrastructures from upstream to downstream, including the Republic of Indonesia Satellite-1 (SATRIA-1) and Base Transceiver Station (BTS) towers, he said.

In the downstream sector, the government is developing more data centers, he added.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is currently formulating the Digital Indonesia Road Map, which is expected to serve as a guideline for realizing digital transformation in Indonesia.

By achieving the vision, Indonesia can demonstrate its capability of seizing and optimizing opportunities in the digital economy sector to the world.

Nationally, the digital economy sector can make a significant contribution to Indonesia's economy. According to the Ministry of Trade, the total value of the country's digital economy will contribute as much as 18 percent to its gross domestic product.
