Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Trade Ministry, through its Directorate General of National Export Development, facilitated export transactions worth 50 million euros between Indonesian entrepreneurs and several countries at the 2023 Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) here on Friday.

The ministry's Director General of National Export Development, Didi Sumedi, stated that the European market has vast potential to become an export destination for Indonesian products.

"Our products are increasingly being marketed in Europe," he told the press on Friday.

He explained that export transactions worth 50 million euros were carried out by Indonesian entrepreneurs, who are members of the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (Aspina) in the Netherlands, with Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the Netherlands, Cambodia, Italy, and Hong Kong.

According to Sumedi, the trade hub location in the Netherlands is very strategic for Indonesian products and commodities to be forwarded to destination countries.

The most popular commodities on the European market include spices, chemical products, fashion, and medical devices.

Sumedi noted that his ministry is targeting potential transactions of US$11 billion during the 2023 TEI.

In the 2022 TEI, the total transactions were recorded at US$15.83 billion, from a target of US$10 billion.

On the same occasion, Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in London, Farida Peranginangin, stated that the trade cooperation is the implementation of joint efforts to promote Indonesian products abroad.

"This agreement is the basis for improving, developing, and promoting products, especially those of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), through the hub in the Netherlands," she remarked.

She noted that the hub in the Netherlands is deemed adequate in terms of infrastructure and completeness.

Peranginangin expressed hope that cooperation between Indonesian and foreign entrepreneurs would continue to have a positive impact on Indonesia's economy.

"Bank Indonesia and the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague are ready to promote Indonesian products," she remarked.
