Jakarta (ANTARA) - Infrastructure and leadership will strengthen the digital ecosystem. Therefore, the government is lending full support by building digital infrastructure more uniformly and encouraging digital leadership, Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi has said.

"Indonesia is fully committed to optimizing the growth of the digital ecosystem through various initiatives," he affirmed at the "China-Indonesia Executive Tech Summit: 4th Global Internet CEO Conference," according to a statement issued in Jakarta on Friday.

Setiadi said that currently, the government is continuing to improve the quality of internet services and expand coverage by building various infrastructures in upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors.

In terms of upstream information and communication technology infrastructure, his party has deployed a fiber optic network on land and under the sea, which is designed to strengthen the middle-mile layer, through the launch of the Republic of Indonesia Satellite (SATRIA-1) with a total capacity of 150 Gbps.

Apart from that, he said, Indonesia has also continued to equalize the development of base transceiver stations (BTS) in the last mile, including in the frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.

"For downstream information and communication technology infrastructure, the Ministry of Communication and Information is also developing digital Data Center infrastructure," Setiadi said.

The government is also encouraging cross-functional collaboration with various modes and the implementation of digital leadership strategies as well as digital leadership development at the C-Level to support the communications technology industry, he informed.

"Digital leadership emphasizes the aspects of flexibility in expanding roles outside the ecosystem, collaboration between all elements and transformation to overcome challenges in the digital era," Setiadi, who previously served as deputy minister of villages, development of disadvantaged regions and transmigration, added.
