Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno personally inaugurated the National Creative Economy Day in Jakarta on Tuesday (October 24).

In a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, Minister Uno explained that the national day will be commemorated every October 24 to celebrate the rapid growth of Indonesia's creative economy sector.

The economy sector of the Southeast Asian country has become the world's third-best in terms of contribution to the national gross domestic product (GDP), after the United States and South Korea.

"This is also supported by the Law on creative economy that was issued on October 24 of 2019 as well as the Government Regulation No. 24 of 2022," he noted in his opening remarks for the national day's inauguration event in Central Jakarta.

The minister expressed hope that all people in Indonesia, especially those running creative economy businesses, would celebrate and commemorate National Creative Economy Day.

He also noted that the national day deserves to be commemorated since the creative economy has become one of the foundations of the revival of the national economy towards the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.

"One of the factors that will advance Indonesia is the creative economy, which is the future of the economy of the country," he emphasized.

Hence, Minister Uno encouraged all creative economy players in Indonesia to continue to create innovations, adapt, and collaborate.

"I hope that the commemoration of the National Creative Economy Day will serve as a stimulus for all of us. Let us celebrate this national day because you all are economic heroes," he told national creative economy actors.

The inaugural commemorative event of the National Creative Economy Day also featured an awarding ceremony for three national creative economy actors, namely writer Putu Wijaya, photographer Darwis Triadi, and singer Titiek Puspa.
