Jakarta (ANTARA) - Health Ministry prioritizes operational services for cancer, heart, stroke, and uro-nephrology patients at the Dr Ben Mboi Central General Hospital in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to provide health services for communities in eastern Indonesia.

"Ben Mboi Hospital is a Vertical Hospital by the Health Ministry. We prioritize cancer, heart, stroke, and uro-nephrology services in the eastern region," the Ministry's Secretary of the Director General of Health Service, Andi Saguni, stated on Thursday.

Since the hospital's operation on June 1, 2023, Saguni remarked that the ministry continued to fulfill the need for medical equipment at one of the largest hospitals in NTT.

The Ben Mboi Hospital will be used as the largest referral hospital for diseases that cause high number of deaths in Indonesia, namely cancer, heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease, he remarked.

The ministry had disbursed health devices, such as open heart surgery tools, open brain surgery tools, and kidney surgery tools.

Tools also added to the existing medical equipment at the hospital are Digital X-ray, Mobile X-ray, Dental X-Ray, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, CT Scan 128 Slice, MRI 1,5 Tesla, Ultrasonography, Echocardiography, ESWL, Endoscopy, Laparoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Endo Urology, Laser Urology, Hemodialysis, Cathlab Hybrid, and Laboratory Sets, Saguni stated.

"The ministry has a target that 34 provinces in Indonesia must have hospitals to perform surgery, including Ben Mboi Hospital," he remarked.

Moreover, the health ministry has prepared human resources for specialist doctors comprising surgeons, internists, pediatricians, obstetricians and gynecologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, pulmonologists, anatomic pathologists, clinical pathologists, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists, prosthodontists, urologists, neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons, and oncology radiologists.

Since October 1, 2023, the hospital has received additional cardiologists, thereby adding to the list of services provided to the community for the treatment of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and uro-nephrology conditions.

Fulfillment of requirement for doctors is carried out through several mechanisms, namely the Utilization of Specialist Doctors (PGDS), recruitment, cooperation with medical education institutions, and cooperation in assigning doctors from the nearest vertical hospitals, he remarked.
