"The Ministry of Religious Affairs is committed to improving the quality of services for all religions, including Christian religious education," the ministry's director general of Christian community development, Jeane Maria Tulung, said in a statement released here on Friday.
The research grant is part of the ministry's priority program, namely religious moderation, Tulung added.
According to her, the research grant is a form of support for scientific development, quality and accreditation, human resources, and an affirmation for Christian religious higher education.
"After a rigorous selection, we decided that 36 lecturers at Christian PTKs, both public and private, are entitled to this government assistance," she said.
She informed that the research assistance has been awarded under four categories. First, capacity-building assistance has been given to 4 lecturers, who have received a scholarship of Rp20 million each.
Second, basic research assistance of Rp30 million for study program development has been provided to 10 lecturers each.
Third, research assistance for higher education development has been given to 11 recipients, each receiving Rp40 million.
Fourth, Rp50 million each has been provided to 11 recipients studying applied research for national strategy.
Earlier, the Ministry of Religious Affairs held the 16th National Camp of Religious Universities (PWN PTK) in May 2023, with the theme "Nurturing Diversity and Peace with Religious Moderation."
Several activities were held at the 16th PWN PTK, namely general and service activities, as well as skill development programs. It also featured a performance of Indonesian cultural arts.
A total of 1,200 participants from 68 public religious universities across Indonesia took part in the camp.
