Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga, has said that the trade conditions in Indonesia are currently strong considering the economy's positive and stable growth.

"Indonesia is able to record a 5.28 percent economic growth (which proves) that the economic growth is stable and conducive," he pointed out during a public lecture at Amithya Institute here on Friday.

The Trade Ministry, he said, has always helped business actors, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and even college students to become pillars of economic growth.

"College students have great potential. The Ministry of Trade has 46 trade representatives around the world. They (students) will do internships and business development programs abroad, and I think they can collaborate with trade representatives, such as doing product identification and business matching," he informed.

These opportunities, he said, will benefit more than one sector.

According to him, varsity students are facing challenges amid the demographic bonus period.

For this reason, Sambuaga advised all students who are involved in the trade sector to be truly proud of locally made products.

He said that they need to really support local products, and not limit themselves to speaking about it.

"We all have an obligation to develop MSME products. Let's not be limited to slogans. (We must) show, practice, and apply in daily lives," he said.

Meanwhile, head of the Amithya Institute, Indah Nur Aini, said that the hotel industry has continued to grow and cannot be separated from other aspects, including trade and education.

"The hotel industry cannot be separated from the world of trade and education. Hence, it is important to know what to do and how to act in the coming years," she added.
