Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has asked the South Kalimantan government to develop and maximize tourism potential in the province.

"I see that South Kalimantan has a lot of tourism potential ranging from natural, cultural, to religious tourism," he said, according to a written statement received on Saturday.

He made the remarks at the launch of the 2024 Calendar of Events (CoE) by the South Kalimantan Tourism Office in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday.

"I want the launch of this CoE to be able to increase tourist visits to improve the welfare of South Kalimantan (residents)," he remarked.

Uno said that the CoE launching is the right step to introduce South Kalimantan's tourism potential to all Indonesians.

He invited the South Kalimantan government to promote tourism with the "3G" tagline, namely gercep (move quickly), geber (speed up), and gaspol (go full throttle).

South Kalimantan administrative official Nurul Fajar Desira said that the CoE program aims to promote the province's tourism agenda for 2024.

According to him, the CoE could become a promotional forum for the province's tourism, both at the national and international levels.

Head of South Kalimantan Tourism Office Syarifuddin informed that the launch of CoE is an annual agenda to introduce and promote South Kalimantan outside the province.

He said that South Kalimantan is the gate to Nusantara, hence, it is necessary to prepare the province as an economic buffer for the new capital.
