Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian stressed that he would replace regional leaders that are incapable of controlling inflation rate with caretakers.

At a coordination meeting of the Home Affairs Ministry in Jakarta on Monday, the minister stated that the replacement would be consistent with the instruction issued by President Joko Widodo earlier at the State Palace, Jakarta, on October 30.

"Mr President has also emphasized that underperforming leaders could be replaced with caretakers any time," Karnavian remarked.

He also spoke of having removed several regional leaders from their positions on account of their inability to control the rate of inflation.

"I have replaced several leaders, and I will continue to do that," he emphasized.
