"We want to receive more inputs for the acceleration of GovTech (government technology), and the president has given serious attention to this matter. While toll roads and the high-speed rail have been built, we require faster public service," Anas stated here on Monday.
He explained that after learning good practices in bureaucratic reform and digital transformation in Estonia, the United Kingdom, and other countries, the ministry needs to receive more inputs from practitioners.
"Today, we want to receive inputs whether what we have been doing is already right or not," he remarked.
Since the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 95 of 2018 concerning the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE), the Indonesian government has continued to improve its digitalization of public services.
Improvement is apparent from Indonesia's E-Government Development Index (EDGI) ranking, from 107 in 2018, increasing to 88 in 2020, and 77 in 2022.
This year, or towards the end of the 2019-2024 administration, the government, through the National SPBE Coordination Team chaired by the PAN-RB Ministry, seeks to build a strong foundation for the government's digital transformation, so it can run continuously.
Taking a cue from countries that have succeeded in digitizing their government, Anas said, Indonesia needs to conduct digital transformation in ministries and agencies, recruit government digital talents, and create user-focused digital services.
In addition, the ministry is preparing the Presidential Regulation for the Acceleration of Digital Transformation and Integration of National Digital Services that will be signed this month.
