"The campaign period for the presidential and vice presidential candidates will be the same as the campaign period for legislative member elections, namely from November 28, 2023, and will last for the next 75 days, or until February 10, 2024," KPU member Idham Holik said.
He made the announcement at the KPU Office here on Monday.
The commission has determined three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Elections: Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
The determination was made after the KPU verified the pairs' documents and the results of their medical examinations. The determination was stated in the KPU Decree Number 1632 of 2023.
The KPU has invited the three pairs and members of their political parties to draw the ballot order for next year's presidential election on Tuesday (November 14, 2023).
"It is scheduled for November 14, 2023. It will start at 6:30 p.m. (local time)," KPU chairperson Hasyim Asy'ari said at the KPU Office here on Monday.
According to Asy'ari, the KPU will start the event with a gala dinner with the presidential and vice presidential candidates. Political party leaders who proposed the names of the candidates will also be invited to the dinner.
After the dinner, an open plenary meeting will be held for the ballot order draw.
The determination of the ballot order will be in accordance with Article 235, Paragraph 2 of Law Number 17 of 2017 on General Elections.
After the draw, the KPU will give a chance to each pair to speak for 10 minutes.
The general elections are scheduled to be held on February 14, 2024. Around 204.8 million voters are expected to cast their ballot in the elections.
