"I think the fatwa is necessary to support Palestinian independence and in order to stop Israel's aggression in Gaza," he stated during a working visit in Bandung, West Java, on Thursday.
On November 10, the MUI issued a fatwa stating that buying products from companies that support Israeli aggression in Palestine is considered haram.
This fatwa is a form of commitment to support the Palestinian people's struggle for independence and also a resistance to Israeli aggression and efforts to exterminate humanity.
Vice President Amin stated that Israel's aggression in Gaza is considered as genocide or mass murder. Hence, efforts from all parties in their respective capacities are needed to stop Israel's barbarism, including by issuing a haram fatwa by MUI.
"Apart from providing assistance, MUI can also issue a fatwa. After that, the government or related parties can explain which companies supporting Israel because MUI does not outline the brand," he remarked.
According to Amin, some parties must sort out which companies are affiliated with supporting Israeli aggression in Gaza to take the next step in the future.
"If this step is not taken, the problem will harm many parties. Therefore, we need some parties to sort out which companies are supporting Israel and not supporting Israel," he explained.
Earlier, MUI secretary-general Amirsyah Tambunan had stated on Wednesday (November 15) that the MUI is not responsible for explaining the fate of Israeli-affiliated products that are currently experiencing a downward trend in purchases.
"What about the fate of Israeli-affiliated products in Indonesia? That is not the MUI's job to explain," he emphasized.
