Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) recorded that 163,162 passengers used the public transportation service to attend the British group band, Coldplay, show at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Wednesday evening (November 15).

"This figure is the highest number of passengers during the MRT Jakarta operations since 2019," Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta Ahmad Pratomo confirmed on Thursday.

Pratomo remarked that from these figures, more than 13 thousand people used the Jakarta MRT services from 00:00 to 01:30 local time, which has been provided by the company as a special operation schedule to accommodate Coldplay's concertgoers.

According to Pratomo, the Jakarta MRT has extended operating hours several times, including for previous international concerts, which were also attended by tens of thousands of people.

His party also thanked the Jakarta Provincial Government for supporting MRT's extended operational period for the Coldplay concert.

"We also express our gratitude for the support from the Jakarta Provincial Government through the Transportation Service that has extended operational hours until 1:30 local time," Pratomo remarked.

Moreover, he thanked the public for showing trust and changing mobility styles towards public transportation services in Jakarta.

Pratomo said his side would improve services to increase the public's interest in using public transportation as their daily mode of transportation.

Pratomo remarked that in October 2023, the number of Jakarta MRT passengers reached a total of more than three million people, which shows the people's trust in using public transportation in the city.

In the same month, an average of 101,306 people per day used the Jakarta MRT, totaling 3,140,481 people using the service, he pointed out.

Moreover, the passenger number showed an increase of around 89,950 passengers as compared to the previous month, namely 3,050,531 people, with an average of 101,684 people per day, he revealed.
