Jakarta (ANTARA) - Newly officiated Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, stated that the PRIMA vision for TNI can be applied through the utilization of domestically made main weapon systems (alutsista).

The PRIMA vision that he proposed stands for "Professional, Responsive, Integrative, Modern, and Adaptive".

"I will continue the programs of the previous TNI commander and adjust to the vision and mission conveyed during my fit and proper test, namely a PRIMA TNI," he noted in a press statement after his inauguration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Subiyanto said that TNI's professionalism can be realized by ensuring that all soldiers are well-trained with domestically made modern defense equipment.

This is achieved by collaboration with state-owned weapons manufacturer, PT Pindad, to fulfill TNI's defense equipment, such as weapons and drones, and reorganize drone units and cyber units in accordance with developments in the current strategic environment, he noted.

He said that a combined team of Special Forces Command soldiers and top marksmen from across TNI took part in the 2023 ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) in Thailand equipped with Pindad-made weapons.

"By using weapons made by Pindad, TNI personnel were able to secure first place at the 2023 AARM," he remarked.

Subiyanto affirmed that the need for unmanned aircraft or drones can be supported through domestic industrial procurement from PT Len.

Moreover, the general highlighted that other aspects to support TNI's professionalism are related to good organizational governance and soldiers' welfare that can be realized by increasing allowances for soldiers' consumption.

"Allowances must be increased to realize a well-paid soldier. I proposed it to the Defense Ministry, and they agreed to pay consumption allowances for troops carrying out operational duties," he remarked.
