Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower expected the Indonesia delegation to be able to mark achievements at the 2nd WorldSkills (WS) Asia Competition event in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

"I hope that (Indonesian) competitors and experts in the WS Asia event can make achievements in the competitions," the ministry's Secretary General Anwar Sanusi remarked here on Sunday.

During his working visit to Abu Dhabi on Saturday (November 25) to provide briefing and support to the Indonesian delegation that will compete in the WorldSkills Asia, Sanusi noted that Indonesia has the resources to win in the competition.

He said Indonesia was the general champion of the ASEAN WS in Singapore some time ago. Indonesia proved that with careful preparation and commitment, it could achieve the highest achievement.

Sanusi explained that the Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP) has an important role in developing young talents who are ready to compete in the WS Asia event.

He said that BPVP has trained the participants in preparing for WS Asia.

"Hopefully Indonesia can make the same achievement in the ASEAN WS when participating in the Asia WS event," he said.

He asked the Indonesian competitors and experts to compete with passion and confidence to gain victory.

"Our spirit is to come, to see, and to win," he said.

He said Indonesia's competitors in the WS Asia event represent the younger generation, who can later become role models of superior and competitive Indonesian human resources.

"Through the WS Asia event, competitors can be an example in preparing Indonesian human resources towards the Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.

In the WS ASEAN, Indonesia won a total of 27 medals which are 14 gold medals, eight silver medals, three bronze medals, and two medallions of excellence.
