Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Geology Agency of the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry held the annual colloquium and dissemination of geological information as a forum to explore and deepen issues related to geology.

"I hope that knowledge and innovative ideas can result from this forum to improve the efficiency of geo-resources, geo-hazard, geo-environment, and geo-information management," Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif stated here on Thursday.

According to Tasrif, the cooperation between stakeholders, including the government, community, and private sector, is the main key in facing geological challenges.

He expressed optimism that the event would inspire new breakthroughs in maintaining the sustainability of natural resources.

"Thank you to all parties that have contributed to organizing this event. I hope this colloquium can be a platform for inspiration and collaboration, creating new breakthroughs in the efforts to maintain the sustainability of natural resources," he affirmed.

Acting Head of the Geological Agency Muhammad Wafid stated that the forum was part of the agency's commitment to provide accurate, precise, and relevant geological information.

The information shared in the forum included programs and activities that the agency has carried out, such as programs related to geological disasters, potential geological resources, environmental geology, and geological data management.

"Hopefully, the results of this geological colloquium will not only be the agency's valuable contribution but can also be really implemented in (supporting) sustainable national development and sustainable natural resource management," he stated.

Wafid remarked that the Geology Agency is committed to supporting and fostering a collaborative spirit among geological stakeholders.

The colloquium was held on December 7-8, and 400 participants, comprising representatives from ministries and agencies, local governments, universities, professional associations, and business actors, attended the event.
