Modernization is being pursued through the use of information and communication technology to provide services to members of the wider community, said Rizal Edwin, an expert staff member at the ministry.
"The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs carried out an independent assessment in July 2023 and continued with an online SPBE interview assessment on September 19, 2023, together with external evaluators," he said.
The ministry received a working visit from the SPBE evaluation assessor visitation team to validate the results of an interview/document assessment on Tuesday.
The external assessor team assigns a maturity level to each indicator and provides an explanation based on their observations of the work unit's internal assessment and interviews with respondents.
"The hope is that this evaluation can become a reference for improving the implementation of SPBE within the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs so that the tasks of coordinating, synchronizing, and controlling policies in the economic sector can run effectively and efficiently," he said.
In accordance with a presidential regulation issued in 2018, the ministry is carrying out SPBE evaluation assessments as part of the 2023 SPBE evaluation series.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics, Nezar Patria, earlier emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy in implementing SPBE.
"The e-government, with its various initiatives in each sector to improve efficiency, prioritizes collaboration and synergy," he said.
Various sectors have benefited from the ongoing digital transformation, he noted.
However, government institutions and relevant stakeholders must collaborate for e-government to be efficient, he added.
According to the United Nations, five important factors can increase the e-government development index (EGDI) of a country, Patria said.
The five factors are digital innovation, accessibility, community engagement, cybersecurity and data privacy, and collaboration between government and relevant stakeholders.
Indonesia has seen a positive trend in the development of e-government, with its ranking rising from 107th in 2018 to 77th in 2022.
Patria said that Indonesia's e-government system development has come with an improvement in the quality of internet services, telecommunications infrastructure, and human resources.
Based on the indicators of e-information, e-consultation, and e-decision making, Indonesians' participation in e-government has seen an increase, with the nation's ranking improving from 92nd in 2018 to 37th in 2022.
