What is clear is that we are working on insurance or providing compensation to the victimsPadang, W Sumatra (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), along with the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of West Sumatra, continue to endeavor to assist the Mount Marapi eruption victims to receive compensation or insurance claims.
Mount Marapi, located in West Sumatra, erupted on Sunday (December 3, 2023).
"Currently, the BKSDA of West Sumatra and KLHK are making efforts and discussing with the insurer regarding the natural disaster on Mount Marapi regarding insurance for the climbers," an official of the West Sumatra BKSDA, Dian Indriati, stated here on Saturday.
Indriati explained that since the eruption, the ministry's Directorate General of Ecosystem Natural Resources Conservation, through the West Sumatra BKSDA, as the manager of Mount Marapi, has worked relentlessly and will continue to make all-out efforts for the victims.
"We will do our best to help victims of the Mount Marapi eruption, both those who died and those injured," she remarked.

The insurance or compensation is pursued to be given by PT Asuransi Jiwa Syariah Amanahjiwa Giri Artha (Amanah Githa).
Indriati remarked that if discussions with the insurance company have resulted in an outcome, the West Sumatra BKSDA would immediately convey the information to climbers, who became victims of the incident.
She explained that the insurance agreement does not actually cover the victims if caused by natural disasters or injuries resulting from military training. However, the BKSDA is still attempting to ensure that insurance can be claimed by victims or heirs.
Essentially, insurance is only provided to victims in the event of an accident, bone fractures, death, or fall while climbing. However, as a form of concern, the agency seeks to make insurance claims possible in the name of humanity.
"What is clear is that we are working on insurance or providing compensation to the victims," she underlined.
