President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Ali Ghufron Mukti, said that the 2023 Indonesian Population Mortality and Morbidity Table Book contains data that provides a picture of the health condition of the Indonesian population.
"Currently, Indonesia needs a mortality table that is specific to the needs of the community. Furthermore, the broad adoption of the JKN (National Health Insurance) Program generates a considerable amount of data for the creation of mortality figures," he informed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Mortality and morbidity data can be used as inputs in designing the implementation of health services and protection against disease risk.
In addition to the 2023 table book, BPJS Health also launched the BPJS Health Service Profile book for the 2014–2022 period.

"BPJS Health is committed to continuing to promote the accomplishment of universal health coverage (UHC) through reliable data collection and analysis for data-driven policymaking through the publication of the two books," Mukti said.
"Stakeholders' active engagement and support are critical in attempts to implement UHC in Indonesia," he added.
According to the director of planning and development at BPJS Kesehatan, Mahlil Ruby, experts and government ministries and agencies were involved in the preparation of the book.
He said that the BPJS Kesehatan output book was prepared using data collected from National Health Insurance Program (JKN) members from 2018 to 2022. The book will be updated in the future, he added.
"As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the quality and accuracy of the data in the table, we will develop a comprehensive update and development plan," he said.
