"I congratulate the ANTARA News Agency on its 86th anniversary. ANTARA was established with Indonesian youths' spirit to gain independence as the foundation.
Thanks to ANTARA, the news on Indonesia's independence flew across the globe," he remarked in a video witnessed in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The vice president noted that ANTARA has become witness to the history of the Indonesian nation and has been making contributions to the development of the country.
He then expressed hope that the news agency would continue to ignite the fighting spirit of its founding fathers to face a new world marked with brand new challenges.
"ANTARA must continue to be empowered to face the increasingly fierce competition in the business of information. By staying true to the principles of journalism and maintaining a sound level of integrity, you will succeed in gaining public trust," he told the news agency.

Amin also encouraged the historical news agency to continue to create innovation to meet the people's ever-developing needs by adopting new technology while maintaining consistency, accuracy, and swiftness for the sake of boosting competitiveness and emerging as a champion in the media industry.
"Happy anniversary to ANTARA that has a long journey toward a brilliant news agency. May the Almighty God always bless all the efforts we make," Amin said in his prayer.
ANTARA was established in December 13, 1937, by Albert Manumpak Sipahoetar, Soemanang, Adam Malik, and Pandoe Kartawigoena.
In 1962, the Indonesian Government started managing ANTARA, thereby transforming it into a government agency.
