According to Uno, the digital economy offers a new ray of hope and strength for Indonesia's economy, wherein during 2023, the country's digital economy value had reached US$82 billion, or grew by eight percent year on year.
"In 2025, the value of the digital economy is predicted to reach US$109 billion, or grow 15 percent for the annual growth rate," Uno stated at the launch event of the 2045 Digital Indonesia Vision in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He remarked that transactions on e-commerce platforms have the most significant contribution to Indonesia's digital economy.
He further noted that world market predictions and the huge potential of Indonesia's digital economy are opportunities that the younger generation must seize.
"Of course, to utilize the potential of Indonesia's digital economy maximally, Generation Z also needs to develop strong leadership characters, namely adaptability, creativity, collaboration, communication, and digital literacy," the minister remarked.
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics launched the 2045 Digital Indonesia Vision (VID) as part of the efforts to realize the 2045 Golden Indonesia vision, in which Indonesia aims to become the country with the fifth-strongest economy in the world.
The 2045 VID is a long-term plan in the digital sector to harmonize the interests of stakeholders from a sectoral and regional perspective.
The vision is created to become a reference for the government, community, and private parties regarding the national vision and strategy in the digital sector.
Uno expressed hope that the 2045 VID would offer benefits to members of the community to increase their capacity to become human resources that have integrity and are excellent and competitive.
