"The development shows progress every month. For example, the progress of the Nusantara Hotel is 35 percent. It is targeted for completion before August 2024," he informed while reviewing the Tropical Forest Reforestation in East Kalimantan.
He said that by January 2024, his government is targeting more than ten groundbreaking agendas for infrastructure at IKN.
However, he did not provide further details on those infrastructure works.
"In January, we will come here again. The most important thing is investors are coming, both local and national investors who have partnered with foreign investors. That is very good," he said.
He further said that several foreign investors have expressed an interest in investing in IKN.
"Some of them have sent letters of intent, some are about to start (their projects). However, I will not talk before the groundbreaking," he replied when asked about Japan's interest in investing in IKN.
Earlier, he emphasized his commitment to ensure sustainable IKN development, which has been mandated by law and approved by 93 percent of the factions in the House of Representatives (DPR).
Currently, the government is continuing to carry out its duties to prepare a number of basic infrastructures at IKN, ranging from the palace and offices of the president and vice president, ministries/institutions, as well as water and electricity networks.
The President has also carried out inspections and inaugurated groundbreaking ceremonies for infrastructure projects at IKN several times, which demonstrates the government's commitment to developing IKN.
As per the government's estimates, infrastructure development at IKN will require a budget of Rp466 trillion.
Widodo informed that 20 percent of the budget will be sourced from the state budget while the rest will come from the private sector through a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme.
