"I hope (the event) can help people in need. We continue to encourage the synergy and solidity that exists in the Indonesian Military, National Police (TNI-Polri), and all stakeholders in facing any challenges," the chief of Polri, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said.
According to him, such social activities are very important as they benefit communities.
Prabowo said that the health and social service event was held as a form of Polri's commitment to be present and help people in need.
The event targeted to draw 1,080 participants. Several activities were organized as part of the event, including examinations by health specialists, a mass circumcision, tattoo removal, and medical rehabilitation.
Cataract surgery, minor surgery, consultation on stunting, advice on women's reproductive healthcare, and cleft lip repair were among the other services offered during the event.
At least 163 personnel were involved in the activity. They comprised 128 medical personnel, 100 police personnel, 10 army, 10 Navy, and five Air Force personnel, three staffers from the East Java Provincial Health Office, and 35 non-medical personnel.
Meanwhile, as many as 1,100 packages containing essential commodities were distributed to the communities. At least 200 people participated in the mass circumcision.
In addition, the police chief attended the declaration of a peaceful election in East Java.
The declaration was attended by leaders of institutions, religious leaders, community figures, academic forums, youth organizations, and civil associations.
Prabowo also inaugurated the construction of seven buildings within the East Java Regional Police, including the Digital Forensic Building.
