Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir ensured that state-owned currency printing enterprise Peruri would exert all-out efforts to work with relevant ministries in realizing the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) of Indonesia.

"This is a direct mandate from the president, so we will make utmost efforts (to make the GovTech a success)," Thohir remarked at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo had tasked Peruri with playing a role as the foundation for the Govtech of Indonesia through the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2023 concerning the acceleration of digital transformation and integration of national digital services.

In fulfilling the mandated task, the state printing company is supported by the SOEs Ministry, Communication and Informatics Ministry, as well as State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN RB) Ministry.

Minister Thohir noted that since his appointment as the SOEs minister, Peruri has been striving to transform into a more modern printing company by making the most of digital technology.

"The Ministry of SOE has been pushing for digitization efforts since 2020," he affirmed.

Thohir drew attention to the various success stories of Indonesian SOEs, such as the one regarding the integration of the COVID-19-related app PeduliLindungi with several digital payment platforms, including that managed by state-run Bank Mandiri.

"Such a story has proven those underestimating SOEs' digital capacity to be completely wrong," he affirmed.

Thohir then expressed optimism that Peruri would be successful in playing its role in the establishment of the GovTech, as the company has been fulfilling crucial tasks for the country.

"Peruri will have a team of 852 people and be supported by Himbara (Association of State-Owned Banks and Telkom (state-owned telecommunication company)," he noted.

He also expected full support and collaboration from the communication and informatics minister, home affairs minister, health minister, and PAN RB minister.
