Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) commended the Vietnamese Government for its warm welcome extended during his working visit to the Southeast Asian country since Thursday (January 11).

According to a statement from the presidential secretariat in Jakarta on Saturday, President Jokowi began the third day of his Vietnam visit by attending a breakfast session at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Cinh at a hotel in Hanoi.

The two heads of government engaged in a warm, friendly conversation while enjoying the foods being served. On the occasion, President Jokowi lauded Vietnam for its warm reception extended to him and his delegation.

"This (friendly welcome) points to the tight bonds shared by the two countries. I believe we will have more promising cooperation ahead," he affirmed.

He then expressed hope that Indonesia and Vietnam would continue to foster a sound level of communication to further solidify the ties fostered among them.

"We need to continue to enhance our communication," he remarked.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi, among others, accompanied President Jokowi during the breakfast.

Earlier, the president had arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, on Thursday (January 11), after wrapping up his working visit to the Philippines.

On the following day, the Indonesian head of state held a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong at the Presidential Palace of Vietnam, Hanoi.

Later, President Jokowi met with PM Pham at the Government Office, where the two leaders agreed to shoot up the target of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Vietnam to over US$15 billion by 2028.

The president also met with Chair of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue on the same day.
