Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo left for Brunei Darussalam on Saturday noon after concluding his official visit to Vietnam.

According to the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, he headed to Brunei Darussalam via the Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong city at 1:10 p.m. local time.

Widodo and his delegation took off for the Bruneian capital Bandar Seri Begawan on an Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft.

Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, Presidential Staff chief Moeldoko, and a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Gandi Sulistyanto, accompanied President Widodo to the sultanate.

At the Cat Bi Airport, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Minh Hang; Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia, Ta Van Thong; and vice chairperson of Hai Phong People's Municipal Committee, Nguyen Duc Tho, sent off the President and his delegation.

Widodo arrived in Vietnam on Thursday (January 11, 2024) after completing his visit to the Philippines.

The following day, the Indonesian head of state visited Vietnam's National Hero Monument and the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh before holding a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong at the Presidential Palace of Vietnam in Hanoi.

The two leaders discussed workable measures for intensifying bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including information and communication technology and fishery.

Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono exchanged documents on fishery cooperation with Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Le Minh Hoan, during the meeting.

Later, President Widodo met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Government Office. The two leaders agreed to raise the target of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Vietnam to over US$15 billion by 2028.

Widodo also met with the chair of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Vuong Dinh Hue, the same day.
