"All must be ready and operate in August this year," deputy for facilities and infrastructure at OIKN, Silvia Halim, said here on Monday.
She informed that the telecommunications infrastructure in Nusantara is based on the principle of shared telecom infrastructure.
This means that the provision of such infrastructure such as fiber optic networks, base transceiver stations (BTS), and so on will be carried out by one or two designated business entities, and later, they can be utilized jointly by other telecommunications service business entities.
"The physical (infrastructure) is one, but it can be used by many. Thus, business entities can practice business-to-business with the infrastructure providers that we designated," she said.
Halim added that the OIKN carried out a limited selection process in 2023.
Those who were included in the selection were telecommunications business entities that already had permits when OIKN started the selection process and had physical infrastructure in East Kalimantan, especially North Penajam Paser district, where Nusantara is located.
"In the end, we appointed two business entities, namely Telkom Indonesia and PLN Icon Plus, to provide joint telecommunications infrastructure in the form of fiber optic networks and BTS so that all other business entities can collaborate with them," she informed.
The shared infrastructure principle has been implemented in accordance with the OIKN Head's Circular Number 011/SE/Kepala-Otorita IKN/X/2023 on Technical Guidelines for Joint Utilization of Telecommunications Infrastructure in the IA Planning Sub-Region of the Core Government Area of Nusantara.
This is in line with the development concept pursued in the new capital, namely sustainable development.
The implementation of shared infrastructure creates efficiency in spatial planning as well as supervision and control of telecommunications services.
