"In the mineral and coal sector, we already have Simbara, which integrates (governance of) coal commodities. This year, we expect nickel and tin to be included in the system. We hope that other mineral commodities can also be integrated into Simbara," he said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.
Simbara, which went live in September 2023, can optimize state revenues, improve business actor compliance, and the effectiveness of joint supervision by ministries/agencies, he added.
The app is meant to serve as an ecosystem that can support government policies, improve the quality of services to business actors through single-entry data, and assist in the utilization of accurate and reliable single data on mineral and coal from across ministries and agencies.
"Mineral and coal data is very essential so that there is no overlapping and confusion of information that can cause things that we do not want," Tasrif explained.

The Simbara application, which was developed through the integrated efforts of the Finance Ministry, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, the Trade Ministry, the Transportation Ministry, and Bank Indonesia, is also designed to be a tool to supervise non-tax state revenues (PNBP) and governance in the mineral and coal sector.
The system oversees a series of mineral and coal governance processes from upstream to downstream, including the fulfillment of payment obligations and clearance processes at ports.
Simbara is also a form of synergy between government institutions for better mineral and coal governance.
It is an integrated surveillance ecosystem for other management and supervision applications and is the center of mineral and coal data.
