They (representatives from the company) have come to West Sumatra and expressed interest in exploring tourism investment opportunities in Mandeh (Pesisir Selatan) and Mentawai.
Padang (ANTARA) - Turkey's SAJA Group is exploring investment potential in the tourism sector of two locations in West Sumatra province, namely the districts of Pesisir Selatan and Mentawai Islands.

"They (representatives from the company) have come to West Sumatra and expressed interest in exploring tourism investment opportunities in Mandeh (Pesisir Selatan) and Mentawai," West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi informed in Padang City on Friday.

He said that West Sumatra is open to domestic and international business players seeking to invest their capital in the province.

Mahyeldi explained that investment is crucial to accelerate the growth of the regional economy as the inflow of capital can boost West Sumatra's locally generated revenue and create new jobs, which can help reduce the unemployment and poverty rates.

"The tourism sector of West Sumatra has been witnessing improvements, as evidenced by the total number of tourists visiting the province reaching 11.5 million people in 2023. This feat can be a reference for investors to place their capital here," he pointed out.

He then emphasized that the West Sumatra provincial government will continue to take measures to attract investors to West Sumatra, including by actively promoting the region's investment potential in various forums.

The provincial government is targeting to draw investment from West Sumatrans who are currently residing outside the province, he added.

Meanwhile, a representative from SAJA Group, Abdullah Alamri, said that his company is considering investing its capital in West Sumatra by building resorts and hotels in Mandeh and Mentawai.

He also informed that the company will deploy a team to West Sumatra to follow up on its investment plans.

Meanwhile, the head of West Sumatra's Investment Office, Adib Alfikri, said that SAJA Group is a business network focused on tourism investment.

He expressed the hope that the visit of the company's representatives to West Sumatra would result in mutually beneficial cooperation.
