Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuldjono has invited Turkish investors to invest in infrastructure sector in Indonesia.

“We encourage investors from Turkey to invest in various infrastructure sector either under the Public-Private Partnership (KPBU) scheme or Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) scheme,” Hadimuldjono said in a press statement here on Sunday.

There are a lot of investment potentials between Indonesia and Turkey, according to the minister.

During his third day of working visit to Ankara, Turkey’s capital city, Hadimuldjono was accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Lalu M Iqbal while holding a bilateral meeting with Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mus on Saturday (November 6, 2021).

The meeting was to follow up the bilateral meeting between both countries conducted virtually in June 2020. It also aimed to prepare the cooperation framework proposed to be one of the topics at the meeting between President Joko Widodo and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan early February 2022.

Moreover, the meeting between the two ministers also aimed at exploring the interests conveyed by the Turkish investors and contractors during the honorary visit of Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi with Contractors Association (TCA), Turkey Construction Consultant Union (ACTEA), two Turkish big construction companies: Nurol Construction, and SUMMA on October 12-13, 2021.

“I hope that today’s meeting will become our stepping stones for better infrastructure cooperation as well as will strengthen our bilateral cooperation,” Hadimuldjono stated.

He thereafter continued to attend a bilateral meeting with the Turkish Deputy Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoglu in the tallest 369-meter building in the country located in Istanbul, Camlica Tower TV dan Radio, that was just inaugurated three months ago.

Turkey in the meeting affirmed to support Indonesia in accelerating the infrastructure development in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the PUPR Minister assured that the infrastructure development in Indonesia still opens doors for investment opportunities offered to foreign construction companies, especially Turkey.

During the meeting, they also discussed additional flight frequency between Indonesia and Turkey from six times to 10 times in a week in a bid to support the economic activities, particularly goods and service trade, investment, and people movement from both countries.

The agreement achieved at the meeting will be then realized in business forum between TCA and Indonesia’s contractor association as well as between ATCEA and Indonesia’s consultant association planned to be conducted in Jakarta in early 2022.
